Q-DROPS is a weekly dispatch of recommendations, fixations, and stray enthusiasms of things, places, sounds, objects, and other random crap I’d like to briefly evangelize.

ROXY CINEMA now carries Tip Top beverages. Those of us who remember the days before Delta fell off are well acquainted with Tip Top and their tasty, squat product.

You should catch a film at the Roxy regardless of Tip Top, though. It has some of the best programming of any rep theater in the city. In the country, even. Always a good time.

“HALO” THE CURE

Melodic and upbeat, yet still slow and dreamy enough to melt into. It has the optimism of a new crush but also the sentimental force to remind you how in love you are with your preexisting shawty.

You show me colors and I’m crying. Kills me.

Btw, it’s a B-side to 1992’s “Friday I’m in Love” if u even care.

ASTROLOGICAL PLATES AS BIRTHDAY GIFTS

Trays and dishes are the chicest solution to the unending problem of splayed-out table crap. Lip balm, sunglasses, matches, pens— you can make a bunch of bullshit look very intentional once corralled.

I have several scattered throughout the house, but I’m particularly fond of these two: a circular drinks tray with mid-century illustrations of classic cocktails and their recipes, and then a small dish decorated with little Aquarius-related tidbits. Being that it’s from France, it’s written in French.
